Matt Daniels debutalbum All I’ll Ever Need släpptes i början av februari 2022 och blev i In The Circles bok ett av det årets bästa album, plats 13 på årsbästalistan. När nu Daniels släppt uppföljaren The Poet, producerad av Banjo Ben Clark, är det bara konstatera att det är ett ännu starkare album, lätt topp 10 när skivåret 2025 ska summeras.

”There were hungry days and nights, there were countless tanks of gas, there were meals bought by strangers that kept me from going hungry, couches people let me sleep on, hundreds of thousands of miles of dirt and blacktop, people who took me in like family, friends for life, experiences i’ll never forget, and the good Lord’s grace and sovereignty that made this record possible. This is a landmark, a mile marker, a stepping stone. These songs are chapters of my life. It was in no way done on my own. Matt Daniel är en kringresande singer-songwriter från Seymour i Texas som hittat sitt kall i traditionell klassisk countrymusik. Han växte upp med gospel och upptäckte countryn genom artister som Alan Jackson och Randy Travis och deras inspelningar av gospelmusik. När han började skriva egen musik och spela sin musik inför publik influerades han av band som The Turnpike Troubadours och ikonerna Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Billy Joe Shaver, Willie Nelson och Merle Haggard.
